Announcing the Re-Launch of the ‘Outsource to the Philippines’ Website and Podcast!

As you might have heard in OTTP001, I purchased this blog from Dan Andrews late last year and we’ve been working hard to get it to the point where it is today, whilst juggling lots of other projects, too!

It’s been a little longer in the making than we all (the team here in the Philippines!) anticipated, and that is mostly my fault!

The main reasons behind this are as follows:

  • We had two corporate clients visiting us from the USA and Australia respectively, in October.
  • I got invited to speak on the subject of working with virtual assistants at BlogWorld Expo in LA, in November.
  • I took my latest company, YourWebPA, out of beta mode and launched it in the middle of December to rave reviews.
  • Christmas and New Year!

As you can see, it was a busy last quarter of the year, so it was very much a case of prioritization.

What’s New!

Basically, everything.

We have completely revamped the entire website, as you can see. We’ve also revamped the podcast to the point of basically starting from scratch with it. The reason behind this was purely strategical, from a business and branding standpoint, and not because I didn’t love the content that Dan put out originally, I can assure you!

One thing that you will start to see a lot more of on the site is very regular OTTP Podcast episodes. I want to try and get one a week out, if possible. I also plan on doing a lot of videos, too. In fact, coming up soon, I have an interview with a successful internet marketer that came to the Philippines for the first time ever in late 2010, with the vision of hiring a team of virtual staff to take his business to the next level – he accomplished his goal and with huge success, too!

Stay tuned for that next week.

Tips, Tips, Tips

I appreciate that this isn’t the only website in the world that discuss outsourcing – thats a given. I mean, the subject matter is widely popular with entrepreneurs all around the world, and was made even more popular when a certain author published a certain book, where he discussed working with virtual assistants to help build companies that are set on auto-pilot. I am, of course, talking about The 4-Hour Work Week, by Tim Ferriss.

However, this is the ONLY website that is in this niche that is owned by someone with 10-years in the outsourcing industry and someone, as a non-filipino has lived in the Philippines for over 11-years. So, I am hoping to bring perspectives to you in abundance. Not just on the subject of working with VA’s, but also WHY you should be working with them, and HOW to work with them effectively to grow your business empire. This can be seen, as a starting point, in my recent post on why bloggers should work with virtual assistants.

Whatcha Want..?!

As I mentioned at the end of OTTP002, where we discussed what exactly outsourcing is and how it works, I’d really like to know what YOU, the readers and subscribers of OTTP want to see on the blog and hear in your earbuds, when I publish future podcast episodes. Please comment below with any ideas, and all requests. I’d be happy to produce any type of content for you – as long as it’s related to outsourcing and doing business in the Philippines, obviously!

So, until the next update, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss anything…

    Hi Chris

Congrats on the launch. The site looks great and I am downloading the podcast sessions now. Thank you in advance for all the hard work that must have gone into putting everything together.

How you manage to put out such a huge amount of content online is astounding. Perhaps you can do a podcast session on that one day.

    Regards,
    Michael

Shucks! Thanks, Michael – really appreciate that.

I have a lot of GREAT help here, which enables me to focus on the stuff I really enjoy – creating the content.

All the really ‘hard’ work is done by my awesome team! :-)

      Thanks for dropping by.

I like the clean look to the site. You may want to test putting a banner ad for your Free Webinar into your posts and/or between your posts as a way to get more sign ups.

As for outsourcing, here are my worries:
    1. I end up spending more time managing the VA than if I just did the work myself.
    2. Dealing with turn over. I’m worried I’ll spend a ton of time looking for new people.
    3. Will I have enough of one type of work to keep a full-time outsourcer working?
    4. Will I be paying someone to “double dip?” Will he/she be billing me for time and another person, but obviously only be able to work on one project at a time.
    5. Can I find a thinker as well as a doer all in one person? I don’t want to hire an automaton (I’ve dealt with that on elance).

That’s all I can think of right now, but those are concerns for me and probably others. I think my biggest is if I can give the person enough work. My projects are varied and require a lot of flexibility.

      Thanks for the feedback, Tim.

Lots of food for thought here, and I can easily see at least a couple of really solid podcasts coming out of this…

I really appreciate your support right here at the beginning of the ‘Second Coming’, and hope I don’t let you guys down!!! :-)

      Cheers,
      C

More feedback for the site design: Your comments remove paragraphs, which makes it hard to read.

Also, the comments should work with Disqus or Facebook or some system so repeat commenters don’t have to put their name, email and website in each time they comment.

I’ll definitely check out the podcast.

          Hi Tim

Thanks for the additional feedback, bud. We’re going to be tweakin’ this sucker on and off for the next month or so, thats for sure.

Comment system – we were thinking of LiveFyre, but have had issues installing it. We’ll get things tidied up soon.

          Cheers,
          C

Wow That’s a great rundown of some of the primary concerns of using VAs, would enjoy hearing your Chris’s insights on how to deal with this stuff.

    Hey Chris

How to find a VA manager. That can take on a very well defined process I have and do some parts themselves but manage Odesk/elance/scriptlane people to deliver the whole package.

From writing a single article through delivering turnkey websites to order.

    regards

      Hi Steve

The type of person you’re talking about, first up, is a Virtual Project Manager, or VPM.

They are available, aren’t the cheapest outsourced staff to hire in the world – but, CAN do the work. IF they are well trained on your processes, etc.

I’ll certainly put this one on the slate for a future podcast episode.

      Thanks for the feedback, bud.
